Tom Adams Sonnet - "Love's Smile"
When souls allowed an end to lonely toil
And entered into faithful bonds that grew,
And summoned sun and rain to barren soil
Nurturing faith's seed to make something new,
The winged cherub set aside his bow
And drew his harp to play a joyous tune,
Inviting heaven's eyes to gaze below
On steadfast hope that could outlast the moon.
When youth's glib promise stood the test of time
And grew in meaning, laying trials bare
To fitter elements that gave love strength to climb
Above the self to make from one a pair,
Then heaven smiled in glorious rainbow hues
To celebrate the ones who finished twos.

Sande Anfang - "Heather"
I spot you across a field of heather,
windblown like a Wyeth painting.
All is misty, muted
as we race to wrap our arms around the globe.
Pressed together, joined as one
The mad world cannot strafe us
Nor heavyhanded malice mark us
with its smoldering cicatrice.
We form a multitude,
a tiny nation, single-minded in our love
of comradeship,
good will,
with hearts turned inside out
and gifts of nurture all around.
Possession, green-eyed goddess of the hunt
may snare us for an hour or two.
eclipse our virgin eyes
with her compulsive fist.
Dropped upon a hillside
naked babes,
we crawl back to the heather,
mother’s milk renewed.
